Windows are the symbols of freedom. There are many of photographs which feature some kind of window and this detail is often used when photographer is trying to express some of his thoughts and feelings about the freedom.
For example, if we have a photo of a human being standing sad beside the broken window, we can get the message that there is a lack of some kind of freedom for it. Or if there is someone standing beside the window and watching through it far away in cloudy landscape, we could associate that with a hope. Those are just few examples on how proper use of the window while making photography can tell a lot to the viewer.
Here you can see an interesting collection of photos where photographers used windows to express some of their feelings and thoughts.
